"We are urging anyone who bought a EuroMillions ticket for Friday's draw to check their numbers to see if they are the holder of the golden ticket worth l €38,906,715.00".

"We are urging all our players to check their tickets to see if they are the lucky victor or winners", the spokeswoman said. "We don't know if it's a single victor or a syndicate".

The winning quick pick ticket was sold on Friday 29 December.

"The jackpot rolled down and they only matched five main numbers and the bonus ball to bank the biggest sum won on Lotto in 2017".

"We all have bills to pay with mortgages, loans and whatnot so we are looking forward to the financial freedom that comes with a win of this magnitude".

Gloucestershire is becoming a breeding ground for lottery winners, as in 2010 a pair from the county won a record £56m on EuroMillions.
