And even though Yule fur trees are pretty much dead once you chop them down a month or so before Christmas, she got her refund, according to another customer.

That's what a California woman tried to do January 4, when she brought her dead tree back to a Costco store, the Sun reported.

However, one woman in California caught a break when she tried to return her tree to a Costco in suburban Los Angeles.

A California woman received a full refund from her local Costco after she returned her Christmas tree because it was dead. It was questioned, verified purchase on her account and she was shamed to a small degree...

"We will cancel and refund your membership fee in full at any time if you are dissatisfied", says Costco's return policy on membership.

"I can't make this stuff up", Scott Bentley wrote in a Facebook post that appears to have since been deleted or made private. "People like this are miserable".

Another wrote: "Sister works for Costco, can confirm".

Costco is known for its generous returns policies - with basically any item able to be refunded at any time except electronics, which have a 90 day limit.
