In the new Nintendo Mini-Direct, it was revealed that we can expect the game to come to the newer system in May. The writers here at Nintendo Enthusiast are huge fans of Tropical Freeze, so this is a welcome announcement.

Set to launch on May 4 exclusively for Nintendo's hybrid console, Tropical Freeze will feature the original game alongside some nifty new content.

While the game will largely remain the same, it will feature a new mode starring Funky Kong. In it, you will take control of Funky Kong, a character that has unique abilities like double jump, spin infinitely, float and swim better than anybody else. He can even survive spikes with his trusty surfboard.

You've also got co-op play via the Switch's Joy-Con, so you can happily team up with a buddy wherever you are. It makes for a much easier and more chilled run through an otherwise tough game. That means they missed out on some truly spectacular games, including Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which, until now, has been a pure Wii U exclusive.

Are you excited about this release?

Tropical Freeze is jumping onto Nintendo Switch later this year, the company confirmed earlier today.
