Messi's 365th goal in Spain's top flight was followed by strikes from Luis Suarez and Paulinho as Barcelona stretched their lead at the top of the table back to nine points over Atletico Madrid.

While they can understand his desire to play alongside Lionel Messi and co.at one of the world's biggest football clubs - a football club which seriously challenges for the most prestigious trophies every season - they feel he's left their club in the lurch by leaving midway through the season.

Barcelona's new Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho (R) poses with his new jersey beside Barcelona FC President Josep Maria Bartomeu during his official presentation in Barcelona yesterday.

"We nearly won the Premier League together at Liverpool [in 2014], it was a great time".

"He saw that a house next to his became available", Coutinho said. "He didn't know I was coming for certain but he liked the idea".

PSG and Real Madrid were also reported to be interested in securing Coutinho's services prior to his move to Barcelona. It is a kind gesture. We've seen the pictures, the views look fantastic. "We are in touch all the time and I know Luis will help us to feel at home", the ex-Liverpool star told the Daily Mail.

"It was always my dream to come to Barca".

WELCOME my friend @Phil_Coutinho how nice is to share team with you again Lots of success in this new stage, we will achieve them all together!

Capable of playing on the wing and in a more withdrawn midfield role, Coutinho's arrival provides a wealth of new options to Valverde, although he will not be able to play in the Champions League knockout phase having already featured in the competition for Liverpool. "We will evaluate all of this... but, of course, I don't think he will play as a goalkeeper!"

"It is no secret that Philippe has wanted this move to happen since July, when Barcelona first made their interest known".
