The multiverse is the limit for Syfy's new DC series Krypton, according to executive producers David Goyer and Geoff Johns. The trailer also reveals the presence of time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos), who shows up to tell Seg-El all about his famous grandson.

"The deal with the show is it's kind of this gateway into the DC science fiction universe", Goyer explained.

Though Krypton is set more than 200 years before the dawn of Superman, Syfy's long-gestating origin story will connect to the present thanks to time travel, thus allowing for untold tales about one of the most iconic comic book characters in history.

The footage features Sipos' Strange conversing with Cameron Cuffe's Seg-El, the grandfather of Kal-El/Superman, and warning him that "someone from the future is coming to destroy Krypton" before we see a flash of a figure that just might be the infamous android Brainiac, played in the series by Blake Ritson.

Of course, the first question on every Superman and DC Comics fan is wondering which characters will make an appearance in the show.

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman's home planet, KRYPTON follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel's grandfather - whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. So it's possible that with all these time travel shenanigans, the story of Krypton is about how it avoids its imminent destruction. Lyta is apparently in a forbidden relationship with Seg-El, which is probably going to be very awkward for Superman and General Zod when they find out. We get to tell a more sophisticated and emotionally compelling story. "It is its own thing, it is an untold story".

"Krypton" is produced by Warner Horizon Television. It just seemed appropriate and I also knew that when we were shooting, you know, even people who are 20th on the call sheet have gone to the Royal Shakespeare Academy.

The cast includes: Cameron Cuffe (The Halcyon) as Seg-El, Georgina Campbell (After Hours) as Lyta Zod, Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones) as Val-El, Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci's Demons) as Daron Vex, Ann Ogbomo (Wonder Woman) as Primus Alura Zod, Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness) as Kem, Wallis Day (The Royals) as Nyssa Vex and Aaron Pierre (Britannia) as Dev-Em.

Krypton is scheduled to premiere on Syfy on March 21.
