Matt Patricia will remain with the New England Patriots through the playoffs, but the New York Giants want to be the franchise that takes the defensive coordinator after the postseason. Mike Florio of NBC Sports reported on Saturday night that the Patriots are "bracing" for Patricia to leave New England and "most likely" head to Detroit. The Giants are also still conducting interviews, so Mini Ben McAdoo can hold off on investing in a fake beard unless Patricia to the Giants becomes the kind of open secret that Kyle Shanahan to the 49ers became during the Falcons' Super Bowl run last season.

Now this report is out: Who would you like to see the Lions hire now?

Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia looks on during Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017, at NRG Stadium in Houston. Peter King of MMQB.com also says Patricia would lean toward NY over Detroit if given a choice.

When looking at the current situations in Detroit and NY, it seems like a no-brainer to pick the Lions.

Patricia could take some members of the Patriots coaching staff with him, so that is something to watch for in the coming weeks. From Patricia's perspective, the Giants should appeal in the sense that they have Eli Manning and a high first-round pick.

The Patriots defense has ranked among the NFL's top 10 in points allowed in all six of Patricia's seasons despite constant question marks surrounding their secondary.

According to King, Patricia may be the No. 1 target of the Lions but he prefers the New York Giants.
