He additionally received Oscar nominations for Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens (as well as various other wins and noms for his non-Star Wars work).

With the start of 2018 comes a new look at this year's Star Wars movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Talking about what would be his ninth assignment in the popular sci-fi series, Williams said, "The present plan is that I'm writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he'll do brilliantly".

Han's infamous archfoe Boba Fett is rumored to make an appearance and longtime Star Wars composer John Williams most recently boarded Solo to provide its theme. The legendary film composer told Variety that he was writing a theme for the Han Solo-centric prequel, while Powell will be handling everything else music related. "What I will do is offer this to John, and to [director] Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy". His themes are now playing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but he also contributed a little something to Solo: A Star Wars Story. Michael Giacchino scored 2016's Rogue One. He even scored the Bourne action franchise, United 93 and a number of other animated films including this year's Ferdinand as well as the Happy Feet and Rio franchise.

What a time to be alive and a Star Wars fan.

Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton and Paul Bettany round out Solo's cast.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" will premiere in USA cinemas on May 25, 2018.
