On December 31, Hawaiian Airlines Flight HA446 was scheduled to take off at 11:55 pm from Auckland and land at Honolulu by 9:45 am, December 31st.

Flightradar24 has shared an image on Social media on Sunday which showed the plane of Hawaiian Airlines taking-off from Auckland, New Zealand, where the year had already changed to 2018 when the plane landed in Honolulu, Hawaii, where 2017 was still going on. By all calculations, this was an accurate and logical outcome.

"Gotta wonder if the crew ran 10 extra minutes of diagnostic checks to make this happen", another said.

The fun fact drew flight-tracking website FlightRadar24 to tweet: "Time travel is possible!".

In between New Zealand and Hawaii lies the global date line and so the former is 23 hours ahead of the later.

It appears Hawaiian Airlines Flight 446 is quite the expert when it comes to "time travel".

But it is not as uncommon as some might believe with planes crossing the International Date Line every day. Instead of moving forward in time, this flight went back in time.

Thanks to the occurrence, the passengers would have celebrated New Year's twice. And while it may be too early to say with certainty whether or not the decision made six years ago has paid off for the two island nations, nevertheless, it's still an interesting concept.
