The feature comes as a part of OxygenOS Open Beta 3 update for the handset. The latest beta brings optimised app shortcut styles, combined icon options with app shortcuts, and allowing for photo uploads to the "Shot on OnePlus" service. System changes include the addition of picture-in-picture, auto-fill and smart text selection functions. The update brought a bunch of new features and a few bugs, too.

One of the more interesting controversies in the smartphone industry a year ago was the decision by OnePlus to launch an updated version of the OnePlus 5 just six months after its initial release. Reverting back to the official OTA version would require full wiping of the smartphone. One of them has been the Face unlock feature, which we found to be very fast and mostly accurate in our review. However, we have had heard OnePlus founders talking about showing some love to the original OnePlus 5 with some of OnePlus 5T's features.

Google Play Protect warns OnePlus 3/3T owners on OxygenOS 5.0.1 that FactoryMode may be harmful. When you share your thoughts and feedback, you impact how we build and maintain our devices. The Face Unlock on OnePlus 5T is fast and accurate.

OnePlus had promised to expunge the compromised EngineerMode app, but it seems that Play Protect is still seeing some code in the replacement FactoryMode that triggers its warning. A Reddit user has also indicated that there is a push notification that informs you to "Disable Harmful App" which is referring to the FactoryMode app if it is installed. It adds that, "Even if you have heard of this app or the app developer, this version of the app could harm your device".
