Manchester United still in EPL title race: Nemanja Matic

Midfielder Nemanja Matic insists that Manchester United can still catch Manchester City in the Premier League title race, despite their rivals leading by 11 points.

West Brom have problems at the opposite end of the table as Alan Pardew's side now sit 19th in the division after failing to win any of their last 16 league games.

Jose Mourinho's side do, however, still have 21 games to take in and plenty of time in which to bridge the gap to their record-breaking neighbours.

But sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho is concerned about the so-called "game-slowing" tactics employed by West Brom during their 0-0 draw at Liverpool on Wednesday, with the United manager urging his players to try and ensure Pardew's team don't run down the clock as he believes they did at Anfield. We will see what will happen.

"There are no easy games in the last 16 and I've said before that, whichever team plays against Manchester United, is always motivated and it's the same in Europe".

"It might be about how we recuperate, what we eat... anything that can help aid the recovery period between games because we have one every few days".

"Obviously we are still in the title race".

Manchester City have won their 16th consecutive game in the English Premier League after they beat Tottenham 4-1.

"We go to their place first and we know we'll have to perform just how Manchester United can perform and, if we get a good result over there, hopefully we can bring them back to Old Trafford and do the business and qualify".

Fellow midfielder Paul Pogba will serve the second of his three-match suspension during Sunday's game at the Hawthorns and Matic said United were hindered by the Frenchman's absence.

"It comes with the territory and Jose's strong enough and big enough to win trophies, which I'm sure he's going to do".
