Now that we're on the other side of Thanksgiving and barreling toward Christmas, it's time for many games that have persistent player bases to kick off their holiday events. Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan is also promising new legendary skins are coming soon.
As you'd expect, the Overwatch Winter Wonderland event is back, dropping on December 12th.
A new skin for Hanzo, previously seen in Overwatch comics, will be available alongside new Legendary skins for Junkrat and Roadhog. That game mode became very popular with fans previous year, so we're sure a lot of them will be happy to see it make a comeback. Mei's Yeti Hunt is Blizzard's idea of an Overwatch boss fight, Kaplan says.
While Winter Wonderland is a revival of last year's event, Blizzard is bringing some major new additions. Kaplan announced a new game mode in the developer update, this one once again featuring Mei. The familiar 6v6 "Mei's Snowball Offensive" will return (also playable on the Black Forest map), but it will be joined by the brand-new "Mei's Yeti Hunt". The seasonal pass for King's Row and Hanamura will be returning, and the Black Forest arena map will also get the Winter Wonderland treatment with its very own seasonal pass content. Players are tasked with hunting him down before his rage sets in. Players will have a special event where a team of 6 Mei characters tries to take down one player-controlled Winston in a Yeti skin. When the Yeti is defeated, the group of Meis wins, whereas if a certain number of Meis die, the Winston player wins.
Speaking of Mei, Blizzard is planning a new event around the snowy scientist. If the Meis kill Winston, they win.
