The 26-year-old singer, who's latest album Divided topped the charts in Australia, received the accolade from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace on Thursday.

London [U.K.], December 8 (ANI): It's definitely a good year for Ed Sheeran as the two-time Grammy victor has recently been honoured with the Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for a glittering musical career and charity work by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

Sheeran was the most-streamed artist of 2017 and supports various charities, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the ONE Campaign.

While being interviewed, Ed was asked whether he'd perform at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding.

Asked by reporters outside Buckingham Palace whether he would play wedding singer for the Royal couple if asked, he replied with a grin: "Yeah, why not".

Today Ed Sheeran was made an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by The Prince of Wales.

The account for the official residence of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also shared Sheeran's reaction to the honor, in which he remembered his late grandfather.

"My grandfather was a massive royalist", he said.

At the end, Ed had a brief conversation with Prince Charles and told him that he was travelling to NY tomorrow for another gig. Even though we think that Sheeran is one talented guy, his persistence is definitely admirable, and does have a lot to do with his eventual success in the music industry, so bravo.
