TVS Motor enters super-premium segment, launches Apache RR 310

The motorcycle marks the company's entry into the super- premium segment, both in domestic and global markets, TVS Motor Company said in a statement. The newly launched TVS Apache RR 310 will be introduced in the global market as well with the company eyeing sales to the tune of 10,000 units in its first year itself.

Here's everything you need to know about the all-new Apache RR 310: The Akula 310 is the new flagship sports bike from the Indian two-wheeler with BMW's engineering expertise and it has been developed at the company's production base near Hosur in the state of Tamil Nadu. Initially, the distribution would be through 50 select dealers across the country with the primary focus being on major cities. Spearheading the super-premium foray, the young JMD was confident that "Customers will find it [TVS Apache RR 310] to be a flawless combination of race-craft technology and riding dynamics", he added.

Despite having the same engine as the international-spec BMW, the new TVS Apache would boost on a higher top speed with all the fairing and sharper aerodynamics.

According to the company, the Apache RR model has distinct characters, features and styling, besides being an attractive product in the racing category.

The company, he said, is "committed to the premium and super premium segments" and will launch further products. The Apache RR 310's 17-inch front and rear wheels are shod with 110/70 and 150/60 Michelin Pilot Street tyres. The premium space comprised sport, tourism and heritage, he said. TVS is zooming in on the fast-growing sports segment where competition like KTM and Yamaha are also focusing attention. "With youngsters enjoying greater affluence, this segment will grow".

The Apache now has the RTR 160, RTR 180, RTR 180 ABS and the latest and much anticipated RTR 200 4V. As for the future, KN Radhakrishnan, president & CEO, TVS Motor Company said: "We want to grow faster than the industry and gain marketshare". We started building our premium brand - Apache RTR with 150cc and succeeded in raising the customer aspirations with 180cc and 200cc bikes.
