After its run-in with the Censor Board earlier this year that resulted in the film being postponed, Saif Ali Khan's Kaalakaandi is ready for release.

Talking to Mid-Day, Khan said, "If Padmavati comes in (on that day), we will think of shifting our release date".

The film was initially supposed to release on September 8, 2017, however, it got delayed. "Kaalakaandi is a film I am proud of", Saif told Mid Day. The makers have announced that the quirky comedy will hit the screens on January 12.

The trailer of Saif Ali Khan's Kaalakaandi was launched on Wednesday, and it looks like a lot of fun. With two of his movies Rangoon and Chef failing to do business this year, Saif Ali Khan still thinks taking good roles is much better irrespective of the films' fates. Personally, I feel it's a good time to have films releasing alongside one another. Recently, we saw Secret Superstar and Golmaal Again releasing on the same day and both films did well.

The actor also feels the movie could have been marketed well. Off late, his film Chef didn't do a fare business even after the content of the film was great. "I think my acting has improved working with some of these guys". But I don't do that.

Well, we appreciate that Saif is confident about his film, but releasing it along with Padmavati is not a good idea. I think they would have wanted to see more food, working in the NY kitchen or the high-pressure job.

The thrilling dark comedy is the story of six characters from different worlds, urban, ambitious Mumbai and its dark, neglected underbelly. Kaalakaandi is a Marathi slang for when things go disastrously wrong. Directed by Debutant Akshat Verma and produced by the Cinestaan Film Company and Flying Unicorn Entertainment.
