PS4 Sales Surpass 70.6 Million Units Worldwide, PSVR Exceeds 2 Million

Ever since Sony Interactive Entertianment (SIE) launched the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD), the device has proven to be popular among PlayStation 4 owners. In addition, The PlayStation VR has sold more than 2 million units worldwide.

The PS4 may have surpassed 70 million units worldwide, but that doesn't mean Sony's getting complacent. As of December 3, 2017, 70.6 million PS4 units have been sold through to consumers.

Adding to the PS4's success is PS VR, which, as of December 3, 2017, has sold through more than 2 million units to consumers.

Andrew House, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, is pleased with these results and is pleased that virtual reality is gaining ground. "We will continue to work closely with partners to maintain this momentum and remain steadfast in making PS4 the best place to play". PlayStation players can expect to dig into titles like Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, God of War, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Days Gone among others. On the PlayStation VR front, PlayStation says that over 130 games are now in development and set to be released by 2018. Sony is getting ready to close out 2017, and it was quite a year for the company's Playstation brand. PlayStation has delivered innovation to the market since the launch of the original PlayStation in Japan in 1994.
