Huawei's consumer mobile services in Africa will include an APP store for locally developed games, music, movies, books and other content.
And lastly, computer science was a huge area of interest in 2017, with the top three courses on iTunes U focusing on learning to code and developing apps with Swift.
Apple has also published a "trends of the year" list, highlighting new trends and the apps that best show them off. The passing year saw a rise in real-time competitive gaming, apps focused on mental health and mindfulness, and apps transforming storytelling and reading. The app has a plethora of tools that provide a ground for layer-based video editing right on the iPhone. It also includes features such as keyframe animations, chroma key compositing, and unlimited undo/redo. Particularly in India, Enlight Videoleap has overtaken Prisma and emerged as the iPhone app of the year, while Splitter Critters has taken over the top spot from Clash Royale and won the iPhone game of the year. On the iPad, professional photo editing app Affinity Photo has been named App of the Year, with Jonathan Blow's The Witness winning Game of the Year; on the iPhone, Apple Design Award 2017 victor Splitter Critters was also named Game of the Year, while meditation and relaxation app Calm was chosen as the App of the Year. Unsurprisingly, Super Mario Run leads Apple's list of USA best-selling mobile games after prevailing in Google's contest for the most downloaded new Android game of the year too.
Apple's curated lists extend to Apple Music and iTunes for movies, TV shows, and podcasts as well.
On Apple Music in India, the Humma Song by A.R. Rahman from OK Jaanu tops the charts, while the most popular album was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
This year's most popular app in India, however, is topped by WhatsApp, followed by YouTube, Facebook, PayTm, and Facebook Messenger. Ed Sheeran was second across the top song and album category.
Rather interestingly, the game of the year choices for iPhone and iPad are not freemium titles. It must be noted that Affinity is a paid-up-front app, while Calm is free.
