This beta release marks one step closer to toward a softball emoji, as well as a cupcake, redheads, bagel or kangaroo.

Among these emoji candidates we find a teddy bear, mango, party face, skateboard, swan, lobster, peacock, but more importantly "Afro" hair, white hair, and redheads!

The Unicode Consortium has outlined all of the new emoji that are in the pipeline for 2018.

The draft 11.0β Specification has a number of changes, including proposed guidelines for display, handling gender, handling skin tone, and a proposed mechanism for allowing emoji to point either to the right or left.

The change would let you choose the directions your emoji face.

'However, that can cause a definite change in meaning when exchanging text across platforms'.

Jeremy Burger, vice chair of Unicode's Emoji subcommittee, told Mashable changing emoji is in a "pretty early stage right now". Images: Apple / Emojipedia composite. There's also a "Face With Smiling eyes and Party Horn and Party Hat".

The draft emoji 11.0β Charts now show the candidates in context: for example, Emoji Ordering, v11.0β shows the sorting of all the emoji, with the candidates highlighted with rounded-rectangles.

Apple, of course, uses the Unicode standard for its emoji, although the company maintains the final design decisions for the emoji used in its software. The full list of emoji candidates can be seen here. Though these still could make it into the final Emoji 11 update if voted in at the Unicode Technical Meeting in January.
