He holds his former quarterback in high regard, so to see everything going down in NY over the last two weeks, he was more than willing to give "Good Morning Football" his thoughts on the situation.

I would like to thank the New York Football Giants for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of such an wonderful franchise for the past twenty-three years.

"I think benching Eli was probably one of the most disrespectful things I've seen in a very long time", Cruz said. Thank you John and the Mara family, Steve and the Tisch family for your confidence in me for so many seasons. I'm thankful to the late George Young, who hired me, and to Ernie Accorsi for grooming me. He survived the Giants parting ways with former head coach Tom Coughlin following the 2015 season and simply wasn't going to survive this most-recent housecleaning. All the best to you.

The Giants snapped Manning's streak of 210 consecutive starts in Week 13 in favor of Geno Smith but they will reportedly go back to the veteran for the divisional matchup. And there was even a large group of Giant fans in Oakland pre-game chanting at Manning during warmups "Eli Manning!" and "That's our quarterback!"
