Holding HMD Global has expressed a desire to expand the list of Nokia smartphones in the near future will test on itself the IOS and Android 8.

If reports coming out of the Nokia rumour mill are to be believed, then it would appear that the Nokia 9 may be unveiled alongside the second generation of Nokia 8 on 19 January at an event in China. The timing of the Nokia 9 announcement is very interesting because on January 19, 2017, the Nokia 6, which was first Nokia-branded Android phone from HMD Global, has gone on sale in the Chinese market.

It has been confirmed, by the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, that the Nokia 3 will skip Nougat and will directly jump on board the Oreo train.

Both the devices will arrive with custom software tailored specifically for the Chinese market, indicating Google Play services will be replaced by a local offering. Just like Nokia 9, Nokia 8 will also have Snapdragon 835 processor and Android Oreo. It is also reported that the company will also showcase Nokia 8 along with other flagship device. Nokia 9 has also leaked in images which shows the phone to come in three colour variants - black, blue and silver. Chances are that we may see Nokia 9 is two variants - one with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage while the high-end version of the phone may boast a 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The recent report also included information about the new Nokia 9 price, which seems to be $558 for the 6GB/64GB model and $634 for the 6GB/128GB.

In terms of the specifications, the phone is expected to feature a 5.5-inch QHD screen.

However, although 2017 launch looks nearly certain, Chinese media Mydrivers is confident that the Nokia 9 won't arrive this year. The Nokia 8 was launched back in the September and now the new phone is expected to be launched at a cost of Rs 36,999.

Despite multiple leaks, the rumoured Nokia 9 has been an elusive smartphone. The cell phone will have no earphone jack.

Both the Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 (2018) are expected to have dual cameras at the back and have IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
