The largest exchange-traded fund to track the financial sector rallied on Monday and was at its highest level in more than a decade as investors cheered the weekend passage of the Senate version of a sweeping overhaul of the USA tax code. The indicator is computed by using the average losses and gains of a stock over a certain time period. They may also be used to help the trader figure out reliable support and resistance levels for the stock. Investors may use the 200-day MA to help smooth out the data a get a clearer long-term picture.

Banque Pictet & Cie SA lowered its holdings in SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Explor & Prodtn ETF (NYSEARCA:XOP) by 16.6% in the third quarter, according to the company in its most recent Form 13F filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission. The Williams %R shows how the current closing price compares to previous highs/lows over a specified period. The RSI oscillates on a scale from 0 to 100. A reading between 0 and -20 would indicate an overbought situation. Alternately, if the indicator goes below -80, this may point to the stock being oversold.

The normal reading of a stock will fall in the range of 30 to 70. An RSI reading over 70 would be considered overbought, and a reading under 30 would indicate oversold conditions.
