Giroud, who has scored 29 goals in 69 games for France, was part of the squad that progressed to the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals and the 2016 European Championship final.

The 31-year-old has fallen behind fellow countryman Alexandre Lacazette in the pecking order at the Emirates, limiting his playing time.

France have an embarrassment of riches up front with Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe, Anthony Martial, Ousmane Dembele, Kingsley Coman and Lacazette all pushing for attacking berths in Didier Deschamps' squad.

The striker has been employed nearly exclusively as a substitute this season, managing just 234 minutes of Premier League football but scoring three goals during that time.

Guy Stephane has challenged the former Montpellier forward to secure more minutes ahead of next year's World Cup.

"And now Olivier has to find a solution in the weeks to come".

"Olivier has been very good for us in the last few months and he has a very high ratio in terms of the amount of games played to goals but now he must play more", the France national team's assistant coach added.

With the Frenchman potentially seeking pastures new, the Toffees may revitalise their interest in the Arsenal man.
