Devin Singletary had 26 carries for 164 yards and three touchdowns for the Owls, who extended their unbeaten streak to nine games and were undefeated against C-USA opponents this season.

FAU started quickly and never looked back. Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton, they had 27 points and 382 yards... in the first half alone.

Mason Fine completed 28 of 44 passes for 367 yards for the Mean Green (9-4), whose five-game winning streak was snapped. The Owls followed Greg Joseph's 24-yard field goal on the opening drive with a little razzle dazzle for their first touchdown.

Singletary wasn't the only offensive star of the game as wide receiver Kalib Woods caught six passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. I'm just trying to win a game. Problem was, the end zone was 68 yards from scrimmage. And even with the loss, the Mean Green need only to win their bowl game to get the program's first 10-win season since going 10-1 in 1977 under coach Hayden Fry.

Aside from perhaps some embarrassment, it didn't matter.

No way would everything go their way for a second time against North Texas.

Lane Kiffin has become a master troll of late, but the Florida Atlantic University head coach reminded us Saturday that he hasn't totally escaped reality. "You are going to win a lot of games if you do that".

"I would love to play Alabama", Kiffin said during his postgame press conference, "I'd feel sorry for our players, but I'd like it".
