Still at the House of Representatives's ad hoc committee hearing on the activities surrounding Maina's reinstatement, EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu has said no assets were handed over to the anti-graft organisation by the embattled Pensions Commission boss.

"The remarks by Mr. Magaji that he acted based on directives of the Head of Service, to put it mildly, is not quite correct", she said.

"After the reinstatement, Maina came to me but I told him that I can't place him on salary until I get further instructions".

But, Maina's lawyer, Mr. Muhammed Sani Katu, in his submission, maintained that his client is still a civil servant by virtue of a court judgment which ordered that he be reinstated as he was not duly dismissed from service.

Meanwhile, the permanent secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, yesterday, took responsibility for the role his ministry played in Maina's controversial reinstatement to public service. "So, let whoever made the claim tender them to support the claim", Idris said.

"I'm the permanent Secretary". She said, "We used two platforms in the payment of salaries - the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) and the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS)". Salaries are paid through pay slips; he couldn't have been paid through the air.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; Mr. Magu; Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris; Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Services, Mohammed Babangede; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, were some of those quizzed at the resumption of the hearing chaired by Aliyu Madaki.

He said: "With respect to salary, from my records, I'm saying this categorically that Maina received the last salary in February, 2013".

According to Idris, he was removed from the payroll from March. "I did not reinstate Maina and I know my colleagues here didn't do that behind me", he said.

But Magu argued that the only link between the EFCC and Maina team was the participation of a few staff of the commission in Maina's pension recovery efforts.

Magusaid all proceeds of fraud ever recovered by the commission are products of independent investigation.

"The EFCC has no any record of any collaboration between it and the pension task team led by Maina".

"For the Perm Sec to say the reinstatement of Maina was coming from the HoS of the Federation was a bit limited in facts". He said his office is already investigating the matter and the outcome would soon be out.

Speaking at an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives ad-hoc committee, Babandede also revealed that Maina has three passports and dual citizenship of Nigeria and the United States of America.

He said Maina used to have an official passport, which had expired but not renewed; an ordinary valid passport and an American passport.
