Speaking to ANI, Kataria said "In a democracy everyone has right to protest".

While Bhansali and the cast have made statements saying that there is nothing objectionable in the movie, the protesters are not co-operating and want a ban on the movie. But, if the same people take the law in their own hands, they will be punished.

According to a report in daily, Deccan Chronicle, the police have detained eight people and proceedings are on against several others.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati is in a lot of trouble due to objections from the Rajput Karni Sena and some political leaders.

The protest is mainly against Bhansali for allegedly distorting the history in Padmavati, a period-film scheduled to release on December 1.

Doubts on the extent to which the National Award winning filmmaker has fictionalized the story, has led to a spiraling controversy with politicians, organizations and individuals raising a finger at Bhansali for "distorting history" and demanding that the release of Padmavati be stalled.

The incident took place a day after makers of the film agreed to screen it for those who had doubts about its content once the film was passed by the censor board.

The Karni Sena members had earlier this year vandalised the sets of the film and assaulted Bhansali for portraying queen Padmavati in "bad light". What have we gotten ourselves into?

Chief minister Vasundhara Raje faces pressure from within her flock as two MLAs of BJP, Gyan Dev Ahuja, MLA from Alwar of Ramgarh Constituency, and Shaitan Singh Rathore, MLA from Jaisalmer, have written to her and in no uncertain terms demanded that the film be banned.

Deepika, who stars as Padmini, told news agency IANS on Tuesday, "Where have we reached as a nation?" Swami lashed out on Twitter and wrote, " Deepika Padukone giving us lecture on regression! This has happened with many films in the past and every time it has happened, I have spoken openly about it.
