The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed allegations of President Muhammadu Buhari marginalising the South East region by.

He then proceeded to Abakaliki township stadium in Ebonyi State.

The president's first stop was the coal city, Enugu state, where he was given a warm welcome by state governors in the region, as well as traditional leaders at the airport.

"My presence here today is a demonstration of my strong belief in the unity of Nigeria".

"We are the most populous country in Africa with over 300 ethnic groups as our diversity is unique among nations of the world". I want to assure you that we will deliver on our promise.

"The 2018 budget captures several strategic projects in the region which includes roads, power, agriculture, social services, among other areas", he said.

Buhari's next stop in the tour is Ebonyi state. I am also grateful to the traditional rulers of Ebonyi State for the honour bestowed on me with the traditional title of Enyi Oha 1.

Former Governor of the state, Sam Egwu, commended the president for the recent decision to pay former Biafra Police officers pensions.

In an address presented on behalf of Ebonyi Elders, Egwu also called for urgent intervention by the federal government to curb intra-communal clashes as well as cross-border disputes in the region.
