The Spartans were young previous year and struggled to find consistency, but returns almost the whole team.

Bagley also became just the second Duke freshman to record a double-double in a season opener (Jason Williams vs. Stanford on November 11, 1999). The Spartans are favorites to win the Big Ten over Purdue, Northwestern and others. The Spartans have one of the deepest benches while Duke has an elite starting lineup.
