Jack Swagger is making the jump from the squared circle to the octagon, as the former World Heavyweight Champion announced he'll be fighting for Bellator MMA next year.

"Bellator is pleased to announce that it has reached a multi-fight, multi-year deal with Jake Hager, who was formerly known as "Jack Swagger" during his almost nine-year run with WWE".

Hager went by the name "Jack Swagger" during his nine-year stint with the WWE.

Before starting with WWE in 2006, Swagger was a standout amateur wrestler at the University of Oklahoma. After graduation, Swagger transitioned into the world of professional wrestling. Swagger said he's wanted to do MMA for a long time and had been negotiating with Bellator since the summer, finalizing terms with them over the weekend. "It's something that's a part of me, so it makes sense", Hager said. "I like what Bellator are doing right now and the roster is filling up and it's not just top heavy, the guys in the middle of the rankings are very competitive and risky". I've felt a lot of love from Bellator. "I've always been a fan of MMA, I've been wrestling since I was five-years-old". It's awesome to be with Bellator.

Bellator has sent out a press release hyping up the signing of Jake Hager.

He is expected to make his MMA debut in 2018.
