Four fire tenders - two from Film Nagar fire station and one each from Sanatnagar and Secunderabad-were rushed to the sprawling studio to bring down the fire, which reportedly erupted around 6:00 pm. The younger son, Akhil Akkineni confirmed the news when he tweeted - "Unfortunately there was a fire accident in Annapurna studios this evening".

A fire broke out on a film set at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad's Banjara Hills yesterday evening. "Though flames were very high, the blaze was completely extinguished within two hours", Hyderabad Assistant District Fire Officer Y Prabhakar Reddy told PTI.

Fire breakdown was happened at Nagarjuna's Annapurna Studios. TV reports say that the sets have been completely burnt. Manam was a special movies as it starred the Akkineni of all three generations - Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.

The exact cause of the fire is still not known. However, by all appearances short circute is suspected to be the reason, he said.

The 22-acre Annapurna Studios was set up in 1975 as a production and distribution company by the late legendary actor Nageswara Rao and was named after his wife. The studio is now run by Nagarjuna.
