Nets G Russell to miss time with injury

Russell went down with a left knee injury late in the game, and on Sunday, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported he will miss "several games" at least, with further evaluation needed.

Russell was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 National Basketball Association draft, averaging 14.8 points and 4.1 assists in his two-plus-year National Basketball Association career.

Nets guard D'Angelo Russell watches from the bench during the second half against the Nuggets on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, in Denver.

The diagnosis is better than the last time a Nets guard suffered a knee injury.

Backup point guard Spencer Dinwiddie missed the Jazz game due to a hamstring injury, but when he returns, he should be in line to take up most of Russell's minutes.

The Nets are underdogs in their next three home contests against the Boston Celtics, Jazz and the Golden State Warriors before they head on the road to face Cleveland.

Los Angeles wanted to get out from under the three years remaining on Timofey Mozgov's contract, and Brooklyn smartly used the Lakers' desperation to get a player around whom it can build.
