MTV Europe Music Awards heading to Spain in 2018

He received the awards for Biggest Fans, Best Song for "There's Nothing Holding Me Back", Best Artist and Best Canadian Act. He then emerged onstage in jeans and a black hoodie to perform the slow-burning number live, with Skylar Gray filling in on the duet duties Beyoncé performed on the recording.

The 24-year-old singer took to the stage to perform his song "Strip That Down" at the annual award show on Sunday night (November 12) held at The SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England.

After getting the honour for Best Hip Hop, he said: "I'm not really sure how I got this, because I haven't had an album out in a few years".

Cuban-American singer Camila Cabello was honoured with the best pop prize, while Coldplay snatched the best rock award.

Talk of the night were London grime star Stormzy, who appeared on stage poking out of the sunroof of a police vehicle, and Travis Scott, who appeared while standing on what looked like a floating hawk.

Kendrick Lamar won best video for "Humble", a lavish clip laced with religious and art-history imagery.

Thirty Seconds to Mars were named best alternative. "Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to the incredible crowd!" These artists are returning to the honor of multiple nominations, but new artists like, Dua Lipa are on the rise taking the industry by storm earning their nominations in multiple categories as well.

Irish rockers U2 got a global icon award and footage of their concert recorded the previous evening in London's Trafalgar Square, was played. "They challenge us, they inspire us". And in a nod to a new generation of artists, Bono crooned an a capella version of Stormzy's "Blinded by Your Grace". Winners are selected by fans across the continent.

It marks the third time the awards will be held in Spain, but the first time it will take place in Bilbao.
