"I'll try to defend as much as I can even though tomorrow we expect a very sunny day and completely dry conditions, so it's not going to be easy to hold on to our position".

"I'm really emotional today because of all of you guys", Massa said in a special interview with fellow Brazilian Rubens Barrichello on the podium.

His eight-year-old son, Felipinho, gave a heart-warming message to Massa on the team radio at the end of the race. I had a few lock ups in the first corner basically for no real reason but I was checking on Hamilton from the mirrors as it is hard to see when you are spread out and you can lose sight of them. I'm so happy for my race, did the best the vehicle could achieve.

"I managed to pass him on the re-start, but after that it was so hard".

Back in the paddock, Massa described his P7 finish as "like a victory". Fantastic start, then managed to overtake a few cars after the Safety Car.

"It was a very hard race for me, for me it was like many victories I took". I managed to overtake Alonso, which was very important for me as I knew he would have better pace than me. I drove a flawless race from beginning to end, managed the tyres, managed everything around the auto, the pace I had.

Last year's race in Brazil saw Massa, in what was originally supposed to be his final home race, crash out at the half-way point before bidding farewell in a tear-filled walk down the pit lane.

"So I think today was definitely like a victory for me". Today I finished like I wanted.

"I have now enjoyed four great years with the team, but my career in Formula 1 will finally come to an end this season". "It is a race I will never forget".

"I'm sure that's an issue that the government here are fighting, but maybe on this weekend there are protocols that are put in place that help".

"We are especially grateful that he agreed to postpone his retirement from F1 for a year, after Valtteri joined Mercedes, which demonstrated the depth of the relationship we built during our time together".
