R.J. Barrett, the consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2018 class, chose the Blue Devils over fellow finalists Kentucky and OR on Friday evening.

A 6-foot-6 wing with a blossoming offensive game, Barrett is especially adept at attacking off the dribble, sometimes using his strength and body control to score himself and other times displaying tremendous court vision while creating for his teammates.

The Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, native plays at Montverde Academy in Florida.

Barrett's commitment gives Duke the No. 1 recruiting class for the third year in a row, joining fellow five-star recruits Cameron Reddish and Tre Jones.

Barrett chose the Blue Devils over OR and Kentucky, with the Canada native visiting all three schools in September.

During the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup, Barrett showed why he is the best recruit in his class, leading Canada to the Gold Medal.

Should Barrett remain at No. 1, this would mark the third straight class in which Mike Krzyzewski has landed the No. 1 recruit in the country, following Harry Giles in 2016 and Marvin Bagley in 2017. Alas, the Blue Devils have thrived with one-and-done players in the recent past and should once again challenge for an ACC title and Final Four berth largely because of Barrett's presence even as a freshman.

Given Barrett's talent and poise, as well as his tendency to impact the game in so many ways, Duke fans may only get the opportunity to enjoy him for one season. All three are ranked among the top six prospects nationally.
