The majority of the new content is multiplayer focused with one of the upcoming updates on 5th December giving the players the ability to choose a side between the First Order and the New Republic and letting them complete special faction quests.

Johnson passed on that project and has since been given to J.J. Abrams, leaving many to wonder why The Last Jedi director wouldn't want to return to a galaxy far, far away. Crait and D'qar will make appearances, giving players two new locations for all that battling. There will also be another chapter released for the single-player campaign. These characters can be purchased with in-game Credits. The faction with the most points that week later will get a high-powered upgrade crate for their respective hero. Resistance also gets a new ship (presumably from The Last Jedi), Tallie Lintra's modified A-Wing.

EA has outlined four weeks of planned content, dubbed The Last Jedi Season, following the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2.

The filmmaker had been courted to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, but this has the potential to be a better long-term bet for the filmmaker and Lucasfilm, taking the Star Wars Universe in a whole new direction through three films. Meanwhile, Poe Dameron's T-70 X-Wing will receive an upgrade that ties into the movie itself.

The mission will take place "during the days of the First Order's rise to power", according to EA.

Hamill is right - while it would be interesting to see an evil clone of Luke, the Star Wars sequel has a new set of heroes and villains for a new generation.

Your choice of faction will continue to matter. Throughout December, your chosen faction's progress will be reflected in-game, which sounds like a "Star War" happening in real time.

Unlike its predecessor, all Star Wars Battlefront II DLC will be free.
