Draisaitl lifts Oilers past Devils in overtime

Kristopher Love | 10 November, 2017, 08:22

Leon Draisaitl scored the game winning goal off a Connor McDavid assist with 16.3 seconds left in overtime to finish a 3-2 win for the Edmonton Oilers over the Devils on Thursday at the Prudential Center.

You can see Boyle rejoicing in the replay, and in an interview after the period ended, he said that he cried when he scored. Brian Boyle broke through with his first goal since his chronic myeloid leukemia diagnosis when he chipped in a Brian Gibbons rebound at 5:33.

"I try to separate it but it's a little bit bigger tonight than probably ever". It's the Oilers' second-straight overtime win and their first set of back-to-back victories this season.

Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl continue to prove that they are not only the most risky skaters in Edmonton, but the entire National Hockey League.

ABOUT THE DEVILS (9-4-1): There was a welcome sight at Wednesday's practice with top-line forward Kyle Palmieri joining the team for the first time since injuring his foot during a practice session on October 22.

Cam Talbot made 32 saves and Anton Slepyshev and Lucic also scored for Edmonton.

The goal was Boyle's first in 30 games since he scored for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Winnipeg Jets on February 11. "We have to get out of this and stop it before it gets too deep", Devils goaltender Cory Schneider said after Tuesday's 3-1 home loss to St. Louis. "Tough to get one, not two".
