The new flights will help continue to increase the airline's presence in the NY area.

WOW Air has just announced its latest U.S destination: the Big Apple.

Mogensen said that the focus for growth would remain on routes to North America, which now account for about 50 percent of its network, though four new A330-900neos to be leased next year could also offer routes to Asia.

Earlier this year, the airline announced that five new routes from Ireland to Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, St Louis and Dallas would commence in 2018. WOW Air will join Delta Air Lines and its closest competitor, Icelandair, both of which already offer nonstop flights between the two airports.

In today's announcement, WOW also revealed increased capacity on its existing New York (Newark) route - to 13 flights per week. WOW now offers flights from nearby Newark airport, where they're expanding service in 2018.

Wow Air, the low cost carrier, is upfront about its no-frills approach to flying. Flights now start at $99-one-way from JFK to popular European cities, including Paris, Frankfurt, Dublin, Copenhagen, Berlin, Amsterdam, and London.

Flights between the two cities will be operated with Airbus A321 aircraft, which has become the backbone of the airline's fleet over the last few years.

WOW air began flying in 2012. Actually, catches: The $99 fares are limited and the airline charges extra for nearly everything, including carry-on and checked luggage, meals and snacks, phone booking, and more. "WOW air's young fleet continues to service USA consumers at a reasonable price to make travel available to even more people".
