Army jawan killed in encounter with militants in south Kashmir's Pulwama

An Indian Army soldier and three terrorists, reportedly of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, were killed in an encounter at Aglar Kandi village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday evening.

DGP S P Vaid tweeted, "In Aglar-Pulham encounter by joint team of Army, CRPF & JKP three terrorists have been eliminated".

Police sources informed Rising Kashmir that two AK 47 rifles and a pistol were recovered from the gunfight site while the combing operation was on.

According to police, the search operation led to a gunbattle after the militants fired towards the security forces' positions.

Police said that an army jawan was killed and a civilian also suffered injuries in the crossfire.

"The exchange of fire between the two sides is going on", he added.

Meanwhile, Internet facility in Pulwama district has been suspended to check the spread of rumours in the area with security reinforcement have reached to plug the possible escape routes for the hiding terrorists.
