According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), about 70 per cent of all cancer deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. In most cases men come at an advanced stage as breast cancer remains undiagnosed by primary physicians and surgeons.

When detected early, breast cancer has a five-year survival rate of greater than 98 percent.

McLeod officials want to remind women to be proactive about their health and especially about their breast health.

Recently, researchers from across the world discovered 72 new gene mutations that can lead to breast cancer.
