Christopher McDonald, the actor who played Shooter McGavin in the 1996 comedy Billy Madison, was arrested under the suspicion of driving under the influence October 28.

San Bernardino County Sheriff Departments public information officer, Cindy Bachman, said the 62-year-old actor was arrested by the California Highway Patrol on Saturday, reported Entertainment Tonight.

A witness told TMZ he drove his classic silver Porsche off the highway - taking out a gas meter and ending up in an embankment. The character actor's blood alcohol content level was over 0.8.

Believe it or not, L.A.'s finest were not amused, and took McDonald to a local jail to sober up before he can be released without bail.

The eyewitness says McDonald told cops he appeared in "Happy Gilmore". He was also arrested for a DUI in 2013.

The full facts around the arrest are yet to emerge, but in 2013 he blew.15 - nearly double the legal limit - after he'd spent the evening drinking with some fans.

McDonald previously was arrested in 2013 for DWI in Wilmington, N.C.

What were you thinking, Shooter McGavin?

'I went through it myself, I got off.

After the incident, McDonald spoke with the press and addressed the scandal, saying that 'The whole thing was unfortunate'.
