Ghost of Tsushima is the next game coming from Sucker Punch Productions to the PlayStation 4, the platform holder announced today. According to an official description from publisher Sony, the game is set in 1274 as the "fearsome Mongol Empire invades the land of Tsushima" and wreaks havoc on the local population and the "legendary samurai" who protect it.

The trailer showed off Mongols capturing and tearing apart Japanese villages and a foreign invader asking one of the samurais to surrender. Players take up the role of a lone surviving samurai who must use the way of the Ghost to take back his land. The game has been in development for 3.5 years thus far, and the team is hoping to deliver a "fantasy" about being a samurai in feudal Japan. But, honorable tactics won't lead you to victory. It's no surprise then that one of the big reveals during Paris Games Week would be come from Sucker Punch, a studio that looks as though it'll certainly take good care of Ghost of Tsushima.

The debut trailer is heavy on the CGI and light on actual gameplay, though with the developer's pedigree in open-world games and the unique concept on display there are more than enough reasons to be excited.
