The prime minister is also expected to address a public meeting near the temple.

PM Narendra Modi further said his aim is to make Kedarnath an ideal holy place the way it should be.

Prime Minister Modi reached the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday and celebrated Diwali festival with the Indian soldiers.

"The floods of 2013 had made all of us extremely sad. But then the people of Uttarakhand voted the BJP into power", he continued.

"When news of Gujarat government's assistance to develop Kedarnath spread that time, the Centre got disturbed and the state govt (Uttarakhand) had to refuse Gujarat's assistance". "Will develop Kedarnath and take it back to its days of glory", said PM Modi.

I have resolved to devote myself to fulfilling dream of a developed India by 2022, says the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi is also programmed to lay the foundation stone for projects "worth hundreds of crores of rupees", taking into consideration the incomplete flood protection works and reconstruction of Kedarpuri that needs to be done, state BJP president Ajay Bhatt said.

This is PM Modi's second visit to the Kedarnath shrine this season.
