Denmark have moved up seven places in the rankings following results in their qualifiers against Armenia and Montenegro, and will now be seeded alongside Switzerland, Italy and Croatia.

The first team drawn for each of the ties will be at home for the first leg.

Federation Internationale de Football Association have today released their updated world rankings, news more relevant than usual to Irish fans as it determines who is seeded for tomorrow's World Cup playoff draw in Zurich.

Northern Ireland fell three places to 23rd despite advancing to the play-offs.

England and the Republic of Ireland have risen in this month's FIFA's world rankings, while Scotland climbed too despite missing out on World Cup qualification.

The top seven teams on Monday were Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland and France - all among the 23 teams who have so far guaranteed their places in Russian Federation.

The draw for the play-offs will take place on October 17 in Zurich.

Wales have dropped one place to 14th in the world after James McClean's belter in Cardiff.
