Gal Gadot will lead the cast of a new World War II revenge movie called Ruin before she steps into the boots of Wonder Woman for a new sequel.

Ryan and Matt Firpo wrote the script but, according to Empire magazine, no actors have been attached to the movie and it's not known when it will go into production.

It remains unclear what role Gadot may take in the film, and no other casting announcements have been made as yet.

Not much is known about the project except the storyline - which will follow a former Nazi captain as he travels to post-World War II Germany to make amends for his crimes by hunting down the members of the SS Death Squad that worked under him.

Kurzel is an Australian director whose 2015 adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.

Gadot will next be seen as the Amazonian warrior in Justice League, which is slated to hit cinemas from 17 November (17).

In addition to Ruin, Gadot has also lined up a role opposite Bradley Cooper in the Max Landis-written undersea drama Deeper.

Meanwhile, Ruin will mark Kurzel's next major film.

If Gadot does sign on for this movie, let's hope her character is front and center of the action where she belongs! "But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions".
