Oh, and downright terrifying - you can't forget that. Which oddly applies to Josh Boone's X-Men film, The New Mutants, as you can clearly see in the first trailer below - which just dropped on the very first minute of this fateful day. The director made the announcement on Instagram and his caption promises that we're in for something very different from what the X-Men movies usually provide us with. Now that you've seen the first trailer, are you all in? Since the teaser trailer for New Mutants is arriving on Friday the 13th, it seems like they are leaning pretty heavily into that idea. "Did you know baby rattlesnakes are more unsafe than adult ones?"
Similar to how Logan scaled back all of the grand, apocalyptic story elements scattered across Fox's core X-Men franchise, Josh Boone's spinoff sets itself apart as an intimate, relatively self-contained pic about five gifted teenagers who aren't trying to save the world so much as they're trying to save themselves. Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Sunspot, Mirage, and Cecilia Reyes will all feature in the film. Nor is there evidence of the Demon Bear from the comics that was reported to be the antagonist.
New Mutants now has a 3.55 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the seventeenth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers. The team will be challenged by the terrifying threat of the Demon Bear, the creature that has stalked Danielle's family for years. Watch the teaser below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
