Sergio Aguero returns to training just 11 days after vehicle crash

The striker could now be available for their weekend's game against Stoke City, a very positive news for Pep Guardiola, particularly as Gabriel Jesus is only expected to return from global duty on Thursday (12 October).

Kane got back on track the following weekend with another double as Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners at West Ham United before adding two more goals in their 4-0 demolition of promoted Huddersfield Town on September 30.

Meanwhile, City are wary of rushing back the 29-year-old too quickly, as they are conscious that a further blow to the ribs could cause more damage if the injury has not healed properly, and will leave a decision on his availability as late as possible.

"Aguero, who was pictured back in light training earlier this week, said: "(On Thursday) I'll rejoin the group and see how I feel, whether I'm comfortable or not".

City were the division's dominant force last month as a 5-0 home win over Liverpool became a run of four wins form as many matches, with 17 goals scored and none conceded.

The Potters arrive at the Etihad, where they have won just once in the last 10 games in all competitions, after beating Southampton 2-1 two weeks ago, in what was only their second league win of the season.
