"We're confronting rogue regimes from Iran to North Korea and we are challenging the communist dictatorship of Cuba and the socialist oppression of Venezuela", Trump told the Values Voter summit, a conservative political conference.

Trump mentioned his nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. The summit has been going on annually since 2006; The Advocate inquired if either George W. Bush or Barack Obama was ever invited to address the gathering but has yet to receive an answer from the FRC.

'We protect religious liberty, ' he said.

After that, Trump moved on to how "we're saying Merry Christmas again" as the world closes in on the holiday season.

'From my perspective, I do believe this president is a man of god.

Trump, nine months into his presidency, has found it harder to get things done than the ease with which he made promises on the campaign trail, making speeches to adoring audiences like Friday's in Washington key to boosting the President's morale.

Trump also said he's "stopping cold" attacks on Judeo-Christian values.

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said he is looking forward to the president's attendance.

"We are getting near the handsome Christmas season that people don't talk about anymore", Trump said in a staccato voice. "Since the early days of the campaign, President Trump allied himself with values voters, promising to put an end to the eight years of relentless assault on the First Amendment".

"President Trump's executive order on religious liberty and the follow up actions last week by HHS and DOJ, demonstrate that he is committed to undoing the anti-faith policies of the previous administration and restoring true religious freedom".
