An old clip of Jason Momoa claiming that he loves his role on Game Of Thrones as it allows him to "rape attractive women" has resurfaced.

Jason Momoa has something to say about that 2011 Comic-Con joke.

The Game of Thrones star, who plays Khal Drogo in the series, commented on the things that he's able to get away with in the science fiction and fantasy genres.

Actors Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa and Ben Affleck during the Justice League autograph signing at Comic-Con International 2017.

"There's so many things you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it. rape a attractive woman, you know?"

Momoa has taken Instagram to say sorry for the rape joke, which was reposted on Twitter in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal.

Social media users were quick to react with disappointment after seeing the footage.

Others defended the clip, saying it was old and it was referring to his character in the show.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Momoa for comment. "But the good news was I'm not a rapist". I love her, but I'm hurting her and she's crying. Discussing the film in a 2014 interview with Entertainment Weekly he said, "The biggest thing is that I'm a father, and a husband, and a son, and a grandson".
