"It's exciting to be back on the East Coast", the New Jersey native and new member of the Boston Celtics told the Charlotte Observer.

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving will be playing the first game of his career with a franchise other than the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 17.

Let's start with Irving, who once again showed the offensive skill set that made the Celtics want to trade their best player, best contract and best asset to acquire him. Coming from Cleveland, the Midwest, where the culture is different. "You get it all, especially in Boston", Irving said.

A difference, too, Irving said between Boston and Cleveland as sports cities: "Boston, I'm driving in and (thinking), 'I'm really playing in a real, live sports city?'"

Therefore, the two cities couldn't be more different in his mind.

While Cleveland has not had the success Boston has had across all major sports, it still has three major sports teams, and the only one of the major leagues not represented is the NHL.

The kind words continued in interview Wednesday, when Irving talked about how much he loves the vibe around Boston. Shortly after his trade was finalized, he posted a heartfelt thank you note to the city of Cleveland on his Instagram.

Kyrie Irving spent the first six years of his National Basketball Association career with the Cleveland Cavaliers after being selected as the top pick in 2011. Based on these comments, the decibels of boos might increase.
