"Remembering Nanaji Deshmukh on his birth anniversary".

Panneerselvam said that the Tamil Nadu government has assigned adequate doctors and medical staff to deal with the spread of the vector borne disease in the state. Given the fact that villages form the major part of the nation, he recalled the contribution of the two trailblazers in uplifting and empowering the rural India. At that time, standing shoulder to shoulder with him was Nanaji Deshmukh.

The audience was drawn from among representatives of self-help groups, panchayats, water conservation innovators and beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In fact Nanaji even came forward to save Jai Prakash Narayan when he was attacked during a protest against political corruption.

"The likes of Loknayak JP and (Ram Manohar) Lohia were active during the "Quit India" movement inspired by the clarion call of Mahatma Gandhi". He followed JP and preferred to devote himself to rural development.

The Prime Minister will release a commemorative postage stamp on Nanaji Deshmukh.

Jai Prakash Narayan's unflinching courage & righteousness also continues to inspire every Indian. He had also supported Jayaprakash Narayan's call for "Total Revolution".

"Efforts have to be comprehensive and "outcome-driven" not "output-driven".

He said that mere thought of doing can not bring change, it comes by following a strict timeline; the budget allocation should be evaluated by how much has been achieved rather than how much have been invested. The government organised an exhibition on "rural life and technology" on Deshmukh's birth anniversary.

Agriculture and livestock play a vital role, along with artisans like craftsmen of rural India, in country's vision of doubling farmers' income by 2022. In this regard, Modi praised the efforts of people in rural India who are exhibiting skillful innovations to enhance rural livelihood. He will then inaugurate a Plant Phenomics Facility of IARI. The facility will help agriculture sector benefit with the latest research and innovations. He will launch a portal for coordination and monitoring of development works at the district level.

PM Modi also launched the Gram Samvad Seva App.
