As the World Cup 2018 qualifying stage draws to a close, there will be eight European countries looking forward to a play-off for the last four spots at the table in Russian Federation next summer. For Egypt it will be a first World Cup appearance since 1990 and only a third overall. The highest-ranked teams will be placed in Pot 1, the next-highest in Pot 2 and so on.

TV coverage of the World Cup play-off draw has yet to be announced.

It is still over eight months to the world stage football tournament and fans are not waiting to miss the first sale period for the ticket which ends Thursday Octorber 12. While Saudi Arabia and South Korea combined them as runners-up Japan and Iran reserved their spots after winning their various teams in the next round of the qualifiers.

Mexico were the first CONCACAF group to qualify and direct their eligibility table with 21 points, while Costa Rica reserved their ticket on Saturday.

Phase two takes place from December 5 - April 3 and follows a similar random selection draw, announcement, first-come, first-served structure.

Australia confirmed their place as Asia's fifth best team with a playoff win over Syria this week and must contest their intercontinental tie against Honduras from Central/North America.

The country selected 11 host cities to be the venues for the matches of the 2018 World Cup: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Samara.
