Thousands of Facebook and Instagram users were unable to access their social media pages Wednesday morning.
According to the Outage Report Twitter account, Facebook and Instagram have been having issues since approximately 11 a.m. ET Wednesday.
Several users were reporting issues with Instagram as well.
Mashable said that Facebook has not yet commented on the outage.
A number of users, who couldn't log in to Facebook, received a message, "Facebook will be back soon".
According to downdetector.com, Facebook has been "having issues since 8:20 AM EDT".
Numerous thousands of users affected took to rival social network Twitter to complain about the lack of service.
World's biggest social networking website Facebook is down.
Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, was also down for a short time. The hashtag '#facebookdown' is trending on Twitter in several countries, including India.
